In the Dense Words

The Faxon Company, Inc. was an international book brokerage firm, which supplied libraries. The installation both defines the space of the Faxon Company’s lounge area and provocatively deals with issues of environmentalism and learning. The five tree-trunk forms turn the lounge into greenhouse-like space. The sculptures were constructed from books and periodicals laminated together then cut with a chainsaw into trees. The installation evokes a multiplicity of images and thoughts sad and humorous, telling of abandoned books, destroyed forests as well as recycling and rejuvenation.
